There are three core shutter styles: full height, tier-on-tier, and café style.
Each offer huge flexibility in terms of how we match the design to the space. All three styles are available in a variety of different materials, colours, and slat widths, depending on your choice of product range.
Always an elegant option, full height shutters provide fantastic privacy and light control. With clean, symmetrical lines, they are a popular choice for rooms in both homes and businesses. And because they are compatible with almost any window shape, full height shutters allow you to create consistency across different rooms.
For the greatest flexibility, add a horizontal mid rail. This allows you to keep the lower section closed for privacy whilst letting the light to filter in through the top section. A further benefit of a mid rail is that it adds stability for larger windows. The position of the rail can be aligned with your window frame to hide the frame’s horizontal bar, keeping the look sleek.
The clever design of tier-on-tier shutters gives you the ultimate in light and privacy control. Each shutter has upper and lower panels that open and close separately, like a stable door. This means you can keep lower panels closed whilst allowing light to flood in through the upper part of the window – or select different panels to open and close as the sun moves across the sky. For finer adjustments, each panel has an independent set of louvres.
What’s more, tier-on-tier gives you the best of both worlds in design terms. Close all the panels, and the shutters have the clean lines of a full height shutter. Open the top panels, and you echo the café style look.
On top of this, tier-on-tier shutters can help accentuate the beauty of a traditional wooden sash window whilst providing easy access for opening and closing.
With café style shutters, you can cover as much of the height of your window as you want whilst leaving the top clear. This means you can enjoy full natural light at the same time as complete privacy.
Café style shutters are also a fantastic option if you have window features such as stained glass. Leave the feature section of the window free, and you can continue to enjoy the beauty of the light filtering into the room through the coloured glass.
If you have sash windows, then café style shutters could be the best choice, as they let you continue to access the window for opening and closing. Café style is also a popular option for bay windows.
We can fit shutters on any window or interior expanse – including conservatories, skylights, French doors, room dividers and bifold doors and unusual shaped windows.
