The final look of your shutters will depend on your choice of design options and extras.
We’ll advise on the practical implications of the different options, and help you bring your vision to life.
Each range offers a choice of louvre widths, creating a variety of different looks. The narrower the louvre, the greater the privacy and the less the light.
Your frame can be fitted inside the recess, on the edge of the recess, or outside the recess. The options depend on the nature of the window – Annabel will explain what’s possible.
The number of panels needed depends on the configuration of the windows. A small single window or single French door might have just a single panel; larger openings could have bi-fold or multi-fold panels. We can hinge up to four panels together (depending on the range chosen), or install a track system if more width is needed.
A mid-rail lets you tilt different sections of the shutter panel independently. Mid-rails are a practical option for larger installations and can be a nice design touch on smaller ones.
The tilt rod is the bar that operates the louvres within each panel. You can choose whether you want the rod to run down the centre of the panel or to be offset to the left or right. If you’re having a privacy mid-rail, there will be a tilt rod fitted to each separated section. You can also choose to upgrade to a hidden (or ‘silent’) tilt rod.
Shutter accessories include hinges, catches, magnets and ring pulls. You’ll be able to choose from a selection of styles and materials.
Integral room darkening blinds are an option with some of the ranges. These virtually eliminate all light from the room, giving you the functionality of a blackout blind combined with the style of shutters.
If anyone in your home is allergic or sensitive to dust, then ask Annabel about the Hygienilac coating option. Hygeinilac is regularly used in hospitals.
With the Antigua range, a fire-retardant coating is available as an extra option.
Fixed louvres can be ideal for room dividers and wardrobe doors – though if you want ventilation to your wardrobe, we’d still recommend adjustable louvres and a tilt rod.
